On Your Tour Of Denali Park
The Day Trip
Your trip begins in the early morning light. We have several options for departure pick-up – choose your preference and be there for the scheduled pick-up time. Click here to see your options.
Once the trip is underway, your knowledgeable and experienced driver-guide will narrate the journey with information about the history, flora & fauna of the Park. You’ll have many opportunities to stop, stretch your legs, and take in the view. Snacks & beverages for the trip are provided – you’re welcome to bring your own. Guests are encouraged to bring bottled water if desired.
Arrive at Kantishna Roadhouse between 12:45 and 1:15. There you’ll be served lunch and have the opportunity to participate in an activity such as gold panning or our Alaskan sled dog demonstration.
At 3:00 you’ll get back on the road to “town” – keep your eyes open for new photo opportunities you didn’t get on the way in! Every day is different in Denali Park – there are endless opportunities for new wildlife sightings and views of nature from every angle.
Keep your camera and binoculars ready – Alaskan wildlife is abundant in Denali Park. Bears, wolves, caribou, moose, grouse, ground squirrels, ravens, foxes – more than 220 documented species of mammals, birds, fish and amphibians. We often see many different types of wildlife throughout the summer. Please understand that these are wild animals, that don’t conform to any schedule – some days there may be more animal sightings than others. Your driver guide knows the road very well – including areas where you are likely to see an animal. Be sure to listen carefully – and if you spot something – tell your fellow passengers!
Summer temperatures in Interior Alaska can range widely – typically from the 50’s to the 80’s (farenheit). July and August often bring rain – you’ll want to be ready for any type of weather. Dress in comfortable layers (and comfortable walking shoes!) Consider a light rain jacket – just in case.
